Bill 23 Submission to the Standing Committee on Heritage, Infrastructure and Cultural Policy

November 17, 2022 By Monica Seidel 1 Comment

Save more shorelands faster is the priority missing in the Ford government’s “More Homes Built Faster” Act, Bill 23.

The Bill supports the Ontario government’s plan to immediately build 1.5 million new homes by 2031 by bringing in changes to ten provincial Acts, some of which have been key to addressing waterfront development, the protection of freshwater, as well as upholding taxpayer’s rights to stand up for a healthy and sustainable environment.

The Bill’s rationale is to increase the supply of urban residential development but has failed to consider the implications of these changes on sensitive areas such as freshwater lakes and rivers.

we are opposed to building homes on designated green belt. it is very clear that cutting down trees is a poor idea for our survival of wild life and we should be aware that we are all connected.

if the government wants to do something beneficial to help the housing crisis they should discuss ways of utilizing the big homes in the city of Toronto. an offer should be looked into making it beneficial for rooms to be rented out and use ideas adopted by European Countries. we all know that the majority of the people will need and want to live close to their work. studies could be underway to utilizing the area of the city that is close to industrial areas.

Doug Ford has young people in his family and he should be thinking about the quality of life he wants them to inherit.

bottom line please dont take the green belt.
