The White Lake Community has come together to create a Lake Stewardship Plan in collaboration with Watersheds Canada and French Planning Services Inc. A Steering Committee has been formed with representatives from various stakeholder groups including the municipalities, White Lake Preservation Project, White Lake Property Owners Association, Provincial Agencies and local businesses. The lake planning process uses a community-based approach, designed to present multiple opportunities for everyone with an interest in White Lake to provide their input, collaborate, and discuss issues pertaining to the lake.
“Now is an especially important time for the community to become involved in deciding the future of White Lake. Reduced government spending on research and conservation means that local people who use and enjoy the lake must shoulder the responsibility for its future.” says Janet Taylor, Chair of the White Lake Stewardship Plan Steering Committee.
A State of the Lake Report has been completed. This report takes into account the scientific data related to White Lake which has been collected over many years dating back to the 1950s. The data has been compiled and interpreted by experts on lake and drainage basin ecology. To view a copy of the document click: White Lake State of the Lake 2016 Report.
