Lonicera hirsuta
The Hairy Honeysuckle is a native vine which is easily identified by the presence of glandular hairs. This species produces young stems which are green to purple in colour, older stems turn a woody brown or gray with a shreddy appearance. The Hairy Honeysuckle produces green leaves, arranged oppositely around the stems during the summer. During mid-summer this species produces showy, tube-shaped flowers. Flowers produced appear light pink to purple on the exterior and orange-yellow on their interior portions. During the fall, the flowers give way to bright red berries.Scientific Name: Lonicera hirsuta
