Ten Petaled Sunflower is a wildflower species that can grow up to1.5 m in height. This plant may also be known by the common name Thin Leaf Sunflower. The leaves are large, dark green, lanceolate to ovate shaped, have long slender tips, and sharply serrated margins. The arrangement is mostly opposite but may be alternate on the higher branches. The flowers are large, bright yellow coloured, have 8-12 ray petals, have numerous disk florets in the center, and bloom between July and September. The flowers are beneficial to pollinator species, like bees and butterflies. The seeds are also beneficial to wildlife species, like birds and small mammals. This plant is easy to grow and is low maintenance. It can spread quickly through seeds and rhizomes to produce small colonies.

Ten Petaled Sunflower grows best in normal to moist conditions with full or partial sun exposure. It prefers well-drained loam or sand soil types. This wildflower can be naturally found in open forests, forest edges, fields, meadows, and along stream or lake shorelines.
