“Wetlands, Waterways, and Waterbirds: The Boreal Connection” webinar – January 27th at 2pm EST

January 13, 2021 By Monica Seidel Leave a Comment

Have you ever wondered why the huge flocks of birds near water disappear in the spring, and why they return in late summer? Join Natasha Barlow from Birds Canada as she shows how the water features on your property or in your neighborhood provide crucial, life-saving resources for thousands of birds, traveling to and from their northern breeding grounds in the Boreal. Hear about the different ways that we can all be involved in citizen science projects, and some simple steps that you can take today, to help birds at your own home.

Natasha Barlow is Birds Canada’s Boreal Conservation Project Specialist. The nature of her work has made her very aware of the interesting challenges that come with balancing human needs with natural resource protection. She is currently working to facilitate the protection of Boreal birds throughout Canada, during all parts of their life cycle. She believes that by studying birds, it can allow us to rectify the disconnect between scientists and the public, providing an avenue where we can have those difficult conversations about conservation that need to be had.
