Watersheds Canada cares about your legacy giving plans.
Plans for a waterfront property or a cottage getaway secure precious days of swimming and relaxing. Plans for boats and kayaks achieve dreams of exploring lakes and rivers. Plans to teach grandchildren how to catch fish from the dock, or find turtles near the shore, create life’s most irreplaceable memories.
Indeed, all water plans bring closer connections with nature and family. Eventually we all need to think about the most important freshwater plan of all – a living-legacy plan.
Meet our legacy plan founders, Doug Smith and Janet Taylor:
Like you, Doug and Janet care about our lakes and rivers. Their relationship with water inspired support for lake protection programs through Watersheds Canada. Doug and Janet shared legacy interests with Watersheds Canada’s team because they saw a need to support the freshwater protection work of our small, action-based charity.
Doug’s idea for legacy giving was encouraged by his wife, Janet, as well as their financial advisor. The formal legacy plan, detailing how and where donation dollars would be earmarked, was developed with care and compassion by the Watersheds Canada team.
“[Legacy giving] Obviously it makes me very proud to actually come through and say, ‘yeah we’re going to do this.’ This is what makes the most sense for us. It’s quite an achievement for us, and I think we both feel very good about it.” – Doug Smith, Founder of Watersheds Canada’s legacy giving program.
Where do you want your legacy dollars to go?
At Watersheds Canada, building trust with partners and donors starts with sincere discussion. Our new legacy giving program, founded by Doug and Janet, is a result of a solid relationship. Donors set their own legacy funding terms, and we respectfully follow through with careful attention to details and delivery.
What type of gift will work best for you?
A gift of securities, land donation, life insurance, or a contribution to Watersheds Canada in your will ensures that your relationship with water will be honoured in your name.
Can Watersheds Canada be part of your legacy plans? We would like to meet with you personally to discuss your vision for our freshwater future.
