Ribes lacustre
The Swamp Black Currant is an erect and spreading shrub with small, sharp prickles covering reddish-brown branches. This species leaves are maple-like, 4cm long with 3 to 5 deeply cut lobes and coarsely toothed. During late May, drooping clusters of 6-15 greenish-purple, saucer-like flowers are produced. The Swamp Black Currant produces edible black berries during late summer, which provides a food source to numerous organisms.
