Characteristically, this species is most recognized for its fluffy seed head fruit, which persists throughout winter. Leaves are made up of 3-5 toothed oval leaflets , which are arranged opposite to each other, and are considered to be poisonous to humans. This plant is especially noticeable during late summer when its four-petalled, sweetly aromatic, white flowers emerge.
