We want like to thank you for a great year. Have a look at what we have been up to, and what we are looking forward to in 2017!

As 2016 draws to a close, it provides us with an opportunity to look back at everything we have accomplished. It has been a fantastic year at a Watersheds Canada due to all the amazing support we have received from our staff, board, volunteers, and financial supporters. We are so excited for 2017, during which we will continue to increase our efforts to protect and restore our lakes and rivers!

In looking at what we have accomplished this past year, we would like to highlight a few exciting things that have happened.

We are expanding our reach and moving to other regions in Canada. Thanks to an incredible group of Watershed Associations in Saskatchewan, and Nature Alberta, we are now working with waterfront property owners to take stewardship actions on more lakes with our Love Your Lake program. We worked very hard this year to develop our shoreline naturalization program into a model we can share that will give groups all the program resources and materials they need to naturalize shorelines. We will continue to work with landowners locally in Ontario and will be piloting with other regions in 2017.

Our philosophy is simple. We believe that the only way to deliver stewardship successfully is by working at the grassroots level, supporting existing organizations that are already connected to the people that live and work in their communities. Our biggest challenge as an organization is acquiring the necessary financial resources to support the efforts of other stewardship groups in delivering programs. We want to do more… provide more cash support to grassroots organizations doing great work… more training on how to carryout shoreline engagement programs and more materials to give away. Our goal for the New Year is to obtain the necessary resources to meet this need.
