Ottawa, ON – In collaboration with Greening Sacred Spaces, Watersheds Canada created the Ottawa Faith Community Capacity Building Program to help provide the tools and resources for six faith communities to lead greening projects and community outreach events. Carleton Memorial United Church, Kanata Muslim Association, Ascension Anglican Church, Trinity United Church, Rhoda Masjid, and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church completed a freshwater stewardship project that benefits their local community and environment, such as invasive species management, community gardens, youth engagement programs, energy retrofits and more.
An interactive online story map was created to illustrate all of the initiatives completed. It acts as inspiration for future projects and showcases the actions achieved to promote environmental education and sustainability. Explore the new interactive online map: https://watersheds.ca/ofccb/
Thank you to the Ottawa Community Foundation, TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, and Living Cities Canada Fund, a program of Green Communities Canada, for making this two-year project possible.
