Diamond Lake Trout Spawning Bed Enhancement Project
Diamond Lake, Ontario is home to a historic trout spawning bed. In this two-step project, volunteers first swept silt off the shoal and power washed the bed. The washed bed was further enhanced in winter 2022 when more rocks were placed over the bed on the frozen ice. As the ice melted in the spring, the rocks fell into place. The Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s Outdoor Fund donated critical funds to launch the restoration process of this trout spawning bed.
Paugh Lake Trout Spawning Bed Enhancement Project
Paugh Lake, Ontario is known for its cold-water fishery. The bed was enhanced in winter 2024 when more rocks were placed over the bed on the frozen ice. Funding for this project was thanks to the Government of Canada’s Environmental Damages Fund, Honda Canada Foundation, and Ontario Wildlife Foundation.
